Let's not talk about how long this list is :/
The Good Place (Season 4)
I started the year by finally getting around to watching the last season of the good place and omg this show is incredible. The comedy style is a little farcical and therefore this show won't be for everyone but if enjoy that or if you can look beyond that, this show is genius in its ideas and deliveries with thought provoking conversations about philosophy, ethics and life. This is available on Netflix.
Tiger King
I won't dwell here but this show went viral because it was fascinating and entertaining to watch and I too fell prey to its lure. This is available on Netflix.
The Big Bang Theory (Season 12)
I used to be a big time fan of this show but in my opinion the show was slowly getting worse with each season so I stopped watching them when they came out and started binge watching them when they made it to Netflix instead. However, Season 12 was incredible and very emotional as well as funny. It definitely reminded my why I loved this show. This is available on Netflix.
Hollywood
Did I watch this because it had Darren Criss in it? Of course I did! As with everything that Darren Criss and Ryan Murphy do this was a very aesthetic and well put together show. With only one short series it is the perfect thing to binge watch. This is available on Netflix.
Snowpiercer
This Netflix original was tense, stunning and superbly imaginative. The setting is that after a global disaster, the rich flee to a prepared train, ready to save them, but many people who haven't bought a ticket also jump on board as it is the only change of survival. This show tries to show the class divides between the different parts of the train and how they work together. My only complaint, is that I was annoyed by the cliff hanger at the end of the first season and I worry that the future seasons won't be as good. This is available on Netflix.
Normal People
his is another show that was hyped for a reason. It aims to tell a realistic love story between two young people but it is the execution that makes it so good. The cinematography is stunning and the characters and both loveable and extremely frustrating. Warnings for lots of sex and lots of sadness. This is available on BBC iPlayer.
Knoughts & Crosses
This adaptation of the YA novel by Malorie Blackman is incredibly thought provoking and provides a clearer look at the universe this story is set in. While the book focuses more on the thoughts of the two main characters, the show looks at the bigger picture and tries to offer suggestions for what the culture and fashion would look like in this world. I lowkey thought that the costume design was the most impressive part of this production as it was so fascinating and imaginative. This is available on BBC iPlayer.
Hannah Montana (Seasons 1-4)
One of the first things that I was most excited to re-watch when Disney+ launched was Hannah Montana and it did not disappoint. Some individual episodes were a little irritating but the characters are loveable and the overall story arcs are incredibly heart-warming. This show is a little dated, especially in terms of quality but if you are after some nostalgia then it is perfect. This is available on Disney+.
Gilmore Girls (Seasons 1-3)
Multiple people have been telling me to watch Gilmore Girls for years now and I finally gave in and started although due to the insane amount of episodes I only made it through the first 3 seasons this year. If you ever want to vicariously live in a small town where every one knows you then this is the show. It also has a great 90s-00s aesthetic and will leave you willing to fight to protect these characters. This is available on Netflix.
