Here is a list of resources related to plastic pollution that I have found interesting, educational and helpful. I will update this list as I discover more helpful resources myself, but I am only going to recommend resources here that I have read or watched personally. Feel free to leave a comment with suggestions.
Documentaries:
"In this three-part series, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Anita Rani explore where this gigantic problem is coming from, and what we can all do to solve it. They challenge big businesses to do more to reduce the plastic in their products and question the government about what they are doing to address recycling and plastic production. They also challenge an entire street in Bristol to try and significantly reduce the amount of single-use plastic in their homes in four months to discover how easy or difficult it is to make such changes."
"A Plastic Ocean begins when journalist Craig Leeson, searching for the elusive blue whale, discovers plastic waste in what should be pristine ocean. In this adventure documentary, Craig teams up with free diver Tanya Streeter and an international team of scientists and researchers, and they travel to twenty locations around the world over the next four years to explore the fragile state of our oceans, uncover alarming truths about plastic pollution, and reveal working solutions that can be put into immediate effect."
In this episode of the mini-series 'Broken', the recycling system is investigated to see just how effective it is at dealing with our waste. The history of the recycling system and why it came about is also uncovered, revealing that it may have more to do with image and making consumers feel better about buying plastic than it has to do with trying to effectively deal with our waste.
